Volunteering: Field Maintenance

UCALL is pleased to offer some of the best fields in the area for kids to play baseball. Our two main fields are the Major and Minor field at Hall Ranch. Both fields have a grassy outfield with a well maintained infield.

Maintaining our fields is important to us so that we can offer a great place for the kids to play. Typical Field Maintenance tasks include:

  • Setting up a field before the game. This involves:
    • Levelling the fields (tractor)
    • Spraying with water to keep the soil intact
    • Plug in the base pads (first base, second base, third base)
    • Draw the chalk lines
  • Closing a field after a game. This involves
    • Raking the chalk lines
    • Putting the basepads away
    • Levelling the field (tractor)
    • Spraying with water to keep the soil intact

The above photos show you some of the actual work being done on our fields.

There is no prior experience needed to do field maintenance and we welcome any help we can get.

If you are a high school student, we can offer you community service credits for your help.

Our fields are located at Veterans Memorial Park (formerly Hall Ranch Park) at the corner of Dyer and Regents in Union City.
